Yale Strom & Hot Pstromi
Yale Strom is an American violinist and ethnographer.
Strom is a pioneer among revivalists of klezmer (the musical tradition of Ashkenazi Jews in Eastern Europe), who since 1981 have conducted extensive field research in Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans among Jewish and Roma communities.
In the 1980s, he began conducting field research among the remnants of Jewish and Roma communities in Eastern Europe. Strom traveled all over the world, but especially found unrecorded folk melodies in the Carpathian Mountains and in the region formally called Bessarabia. Strom took his findings and began writing books and plays, directing documentary films, organizing photography exhibitions and founding his klezmer/roman band Hot Pstromi in 1982
