Vosto5

Prague Theater Vosto5 was founded in 1996 by Ondrej Cihlář, David Kašpar and Petr Prokop. It is an independent ensemble that creates an author's production of a significant thematic and genre span, coupled with original poetry and a fresh sense of humor. The creation of Vosto5 Theater is rooted in modern cabaret and text-appeal clowns, which, together with improvisation, are spreading to a variety of performances.

Throughout its life, Vosto5 primarily looks for new ways to have a truly live connection with the viewer. It examines how to engage the viewer, how to connect them organically with the changing, lively, and transient structure of the theater performance, as the viewer draws on normal perception. At the same time, Vosto5 opens up purely Czech social themes through iconic phenomena of Czech culture - such as Josef Lada, Sněžka, myrtic Perák, Hanč and Vrbata, Marie Rottrová or Blaničtí rytíři. The themes of all productions combine the interest in Czech themes, events and narrative stories that create and complicate our complicated national identity in the melting pot of our society and history. Vosto5 does not identify the features of our national nature and shows them in their complexity and ambiguity - but always with conspicuous distances and insights. In their works, they try not to seduce and not judge, but to let them taste and to live, or, in the case of looser structures, to be directly at the onset of a theater situation, a gag, or the whole story.
