Toruńska Orkiestra Symfoniczna
The Toruń Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 42nd anniversary in 2020. Founded as the Toruń Chamber Orchestra in the 1978/79 artistic season, it passed under the management of the City of Toruń in 1990. It is maintained by the City of Toruń and owes it its dynamic development. Since February 2006 it functions under the name of the Toruń Symphony Orchestra.
The ensemble has become a permanent part of the cultural landscape of the city, by organizing concerts for the citizens of Toruń and making its name known on numerous domestic and foreign tours. During its 42 years of activity, the Toruń Symphony Orchestra has given about two and a half thousand concerts in all major Polish cities and in many European countries, as well as at prestigious festivals.
A significant event in the history of the Orchestra is the organization of the International Summer Festival Toruń – Music and Architecture since 1997. Its idea is to present classical music in historical, historical interiors. The festival concerts are organized for two summer months – July and August.
