The young German singer Torsten Kerl is one of the most sought-after Helden-tenors in the world. A regular at most of the great international opera-houses and concert halls in Europe, but also in New York's MET and Tokyo's New National Theatre. Torsten Kerl is frequently invited to renowned international opera- and concert festivals such as the Bayreuther Festspiele 1996 – 2000, the Schwetzinger Festspiele 1999, the Salzburger Festspiele 2002 and 2004, the Edinburgh Festival 2003, the Glyndebourne Festival 2006 as well as the Smetana Festival In the Czech Republik 2007. He has won numerous awards and scholarships as a solo oboist – having begun his career as an orchestra musician and instrumental soloist – and as a singer.
