Tomáš Hobzek
Tomáš Hobzek is a Czech drummer and a founding member of the Organic Quartet. He classifies his music as modern jazz and improvised music with elements of avant-garde jazz.
"I think thematically I'm most influenced by Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks and this generation of musicians in general. Then the Wayne Shorter Quartet. In general, I have a penchant for applying simpler themes and using them for more extended improvisation. I get inspired in different ways. Sometimes it's just a small musical motif from which I write a song, but often I'm greatly inspired by non-musical stimuli, like a strong personal experience. Rather than looking for inspiration, I let it come to me," says Tomáš Hobzek.
