Thousand Below

Thousand Below is an American post-hardcore band from San Diego, California, active since 2016. The founding member is vocalist James Deberg, who continued writing music after leaving his previous group. He was joined by guitarist Josh Thomas, bassist Josh Billimoria, and drummer Garrett Halvax, with second guitarist Devin Chance joining later.

In 2017, the band released its debut studio album The Love You Let Too Close through Rise Records. They subsequently toured across North America and Europe alongside other bands from the post-hardcore scene. At the end of 2018, Devin Chance and Garrett Halvax left the group. In early 2019, Deberg, Thomas, and Billimoria began working on their second album, Gone in Your Wake. The drum parts for the recording were initially performed by studio drummer Max Santoro, who later became a permanent member. The album was released in October 2019, with the band supporting the single Chemical by releasing a music video.

In 2020, the band paused its planned concerts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the lockdown, they recorded an acoustic EP titled Let Go Of Your Love, which includes reworked tracks from the second album and one new song. In February 2021, the band released the single Gone to Me along with a video. In September 2022, they announced a partnership with the Pale Chord label and released a new single, Sabotage, in November of the same year. Their third studio album, Hell Finds You Everywhere, was released in December 2022.

In May 2025, the band announced its fourth studio album, Buried In Jade, which was released in August 2025 under Pale Chord and Rise Records. Prior to the album’s release, singles including Palace of Dread and Save Me (feat. Lø Spirit) were published.

The current lineup of Thousand Below consists of James Deberg (vocals), Josh Thomas (guitar / programming), Josh Billimoria (bass / backing vocals), and Max Santoro (drums).
