The Aristocrats
The Aristocrats is an instrumental rock-fusion band consisting of drummer Marco Minnemann, bassist Bryan Beller and guitarist Guthrie Govan. Their shows randomly alternate between rock, jazz, pop, metal, country and anything in between, with the improvisational soul of the band being an important aspect.
The buzz from a supposedly one-off debut performance at the NAMM show in Anaheim in 2011 led to the release of The Aristocrats' debut album. Recorded in just eight days, The Aristocratás (2011) was instantly hailed as a classic by leading music publications around the world and appeared on many top ten album charts that year. The Aristocrats then went on to record three more critically acclaimed studio albums in the following decade, two of which made the Top 10 of the Billboard jazz charts.
In the midst of a pandemic lockdown hiatus, the band produced their fifth and most ambitious studio work to date – a concept album. Duck is the story of an Antarctic island spider native who flees from a penguin policeman all the way to New York... where considerable misfortune and danger await. The new album will be released on February 16, 2024, coinciding with the Duckling tour, a series of five select concerts on the US West Coast to mark the occasion.
