Städtische Galerie Dresden
The Städtische Galerie Dresden is the art museum of the state capital. The exhibition rooms in the historic country house are located a few minutes from the Brühlsche Terrasse. With its permanent exhibition and regularly changing presentations, the Städtische Galerie has been committed to rich art production in Dresden and the region from the 20th century to the present since its opening in 2005.
When it was founded in 2002, the Städtische Galerie Dresden took over the art holdings of the Dresden City Museum for editing. This basic stock of the collection comprised approx. 1,700 paintings, 800 plastic works and more than 20,000 graphic sheets. The period of origin of the works extends from the 16th century to the present.
The main goal is to further expand the collection by acquiring contemporary art.
