Shooting from obscurity to fame as the featured artist on Disclosure's Latch in 2012, a global smash hit that showcased their distinctively stirring high tenor, Sam Smith has since become one of pop's most prominent balladeers. Taking cues from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Amy Winehouse and Adele, Smith became a household name with 2014's In the Lonely Hour, which went multi-platinum and won four Grammys. They followed it up with three more studio albums—the latest being 2023's Gloria—as well as an Academy Award win for their Bond song Writing's on the Wall and collaborations with artists ranging from Calvin Harris to Kim Petras.
