Run the Jewels
Run the Jewels is an American hip-hop duo founded in 2013 by the New York musician and producer El-P and Atlanta-based rapper Killer Mike.
The two musicians met in 2011 through Jason DeMarco, a mutual friend of Adult Swim. The two recorded the track Tougher Colder Killer. They also worked together on Killer Mike's album R.A.P Music and later decided to continue their collaboration. First, the two musicians went on tour together.
After this successful tour, they founded the Run The Jewels project, which was initially marketed anti-commercially. That's why they released their self-titled debut album Run the Jewels free of charge on the Internet in June 2013. It received good reviews in the alternative music press and was featured in numerous annual best lists. Other releases are Run The Jewels 2 (2014), Meow The Jewels (2015) and Run The Jewels 3 (2016).
