Pasión De Buena Vista
Pasión De Buena Vista continues the musical tradition that was started by the Buenavista Social Club – a Havana dance and music club that achieved great popularity, especially in the 1930s and 1940s. In the early 1950s, largely in part due to the Cuban revolution, the club had ceased to exist. However, in 1996 the club gained worldwide recognition thanks to the release of the hugely, commercially and critically successful, Buena Vista Social Club album created by an ensemble of Cuban musicians directed by Juan de Marcos González and American guitarist Ry Cooder. Pasión De Buena Vista aims to bring a taste of the sweet bohemian life in Cuba from the first half of the 20th century, through hot rhythms, captivating dances, and unforgettable melodies.
