Nirvana

Nirvana was an American grunge band formed in 1987 in Aberdeen, Washington. Are among the most influential bands 90th 20th century. The founding members were Kurt Cobain (guitar, vocals) and Krist Novoselic (bass guitar). In the place of drummer Dave Grohl finally ended, which was the last in a series of several drummers who succeeded in Nirvana. As a third guitarist Pat Smear was adopted.

In 1989 Nirvana recorded their first studio album, Bleach, but still did not belong to the mainstream of popular music. The turning point came when in 1991 published her new single titled Smells Like Teen Spirit to the album Nevermind. This song reached the top spot in the charts, and opened the way to Nirvana fame. The third and final studio album was released in 1993 and was named In Utero; later included popular songs such as Rape Me Heart-Shaped Box.

Nirvana broke up after the suicide of frontman Kurt Cobain in April 1994. Since its inception sold worldwide more than 50 million albums. Musical style that Nirvana played was called grunge. Similar music represented and represent bands such as Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.
