MØ
It was the Spice Girls who inspired Karen Marie Ørsted Aagaard Andersen, better known as MØ, to begin making music. But she soon turned to spicier idols, like Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth. So it comes as no surprise to find that MØ´s sparkling electropop comes with a side serving of edge and guts. “A mixture of Siouxsie Sioux and Janet Jackson,” as NME aptly described it. She´s already overthrown her home country Denmark, and world domination is only a chorus away.
Although she released her debut album, the energetic and complex No Mythologies to Follow in 2014, MØ is still perhaps most well known through her performances as a singer and songwriter with other artists. Dear Boy with Avicii, Beg For It with Iggy Azalea and Cold Water and Lean on with Major Lazer conquered the worlds charts. The single Drum, written with Noonie Bao and Charlie XCX, was released in fall 2016 and January 2017 saw the release of Do Not Leave by the British electronica duo Snakehips featuring MØ on vocals. The as yet untitled sequel to No Mythologies to Follow is scheduled for release later in 2017.
