Marta Sanchez
Pianist and composer Marta Sánchez was born and raised in Madrid, Spain. She is active in the contemporary creative music scene not only in New York City, but around the world. Her innovative and original music has won her the favor of international audiences and critical acclaim. After completing her classical studies at the Conservatory, she received her academic training in jazz and contemporary music at the School of Music Populart and was awarded a grant from the A.I.E. (Spanish Association of Musicians.) The combination of elements of rock, pop, jazz, classical and experimental music are typical of this pianist's playing. She plays melodies that are rhythmically complex but strongly melodic. This is music that tells stories, integrating folk elements with the harmonic sophistication and spontaneity of jazz. In 2019, Marta Sánchez presents El Rayo de Luz , her follow-up to the critically acclaimed CDs Partenika (2015) and Danza Imposible.
