Marieu is a Berlin-based underground DJ and producer, vinyl lover and scene activist, vintage synthesizer fan and a part of the Analogue Cops, born in Padua, Italy, during the time when house music emerged in the country. In the mid 90s he made hist first club experiences with house and disco, and soon found his way to more refined and complex electronic styles.
Dissatisfied with the Italian club scene, he moved to Barcelona in 2004 and began DJing. It was there, that he met his fellow Italian colleague Lucretio, with whom he shared a passion for house and techno and Detroit's melodic influences.
After several years of spinning together the two decided to move to Berlin and founded a strictly vinyl underground label, Restoration Records.
Marieu's first solo release appeared in 2008, showing the development of his sound: warm and funky, solid and relentless.
In spring 2009, Marieu and Lucretio started a collaboration with Steffi as Third Side. The group's first EP, Nyx, was highly acclaimed and quickly sold out. Their debut album, Unified Fields, followed delivering purist house, techno and electro, made only with hardware equipment. Together with Blawan and Lucretio, Marieu created the project Parassela, focussing on raw punchy underground techno.
In summer 2010, Marieu founded the Appointment imprint together with Lucretio and friends from Relative Records. In 2011 he started his solo label Enlightened Wax, focussing on his own material.
