Machina Mundi

Machina Mundi is a Scandinavian quartet led by Czech saxophonist Luboš Soukup, who has been based in Copenhagen, Denmark for more than ten years.

His strength is his ability to put together interesting musical formations that cross not only geographical but also genre boundaries - and this band is no exception. The band has many inspirations. One of them is the legendary Weather Report project and specifically the way keyboards and synthesizers are used in the music. Machina Mundi's grooves are inspired by bands such as Chris Potter Underground. Luboš Soukup's original compositions are sophisticatedly constructed, and despite their complexity they are warmly received by the audience. Machina Mundi's music is rhythmic, and refined grooves and sophisticated, almost cinematic melodies play a large role in it. Well-constructed solos and improvised areas are carried over a solid rhythmic foundation.
