Lacrimas Profundere

Lacrimas Profundere is a German music group formed in 1993 in the town of Waging am See. It was founded by guitarist Oliver Nikolas Schmid. Initially, the band focused on doom metal with gothic elements and, in their early work, used female vocals and classical instruments such as violin and harp.

Their debut album, ...And the Wings Embraced Us, was released in 1995, followed by La Naissance D’Un Rêve in 1997. The third studio album, Memorandum (1999), gained broader international recognition. In 2001, the album Burning: A Wish marked a shift towards darker rock structures. This direction was further developed on the albums Fall, I Will Follow (2002), Ave End (2004), and Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts (2006), the latter of which was the band's first to appear on the German album charts.

Over the years, the band has undergone several lineup changes, including changes in vocalists. Founder Oliver Nikolas Schmid remains the band’s primary songwriter and leading figure. Lacrimas Profundere continues to actively record and perform. Their more recent releases include the albums Bleeding the Stars (2019) and How to Shroud Yourself with Night (2022).
