King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard (Rave Set) + support: Maddie Ashman
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are heading back to the Czech Republic, this time with a special rave set at Prague's SaSaZu.
The band is evolving in real time – taking their extensive oeuvre through a complete transformation. They have swapped their guitars and fuzz pedals for a bastardized, fully modular synthesis table that shares the same beating heart of their ethos – ambitious, improvised, and epiphanic.
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is an Australian rock band formed in 2010 in Melbourne, Victoria. They are known for exploring multiple genres, staging energetic live shows, and building a prolific discography, having released 27 studio albums since their formation.
Their first two albums, 12 Bar Bruise (2012) and Eyes Like the Sky (2013), primarily blended surf music, garage rock and psychedelic rock, and were released on the band's independent record label, Flightless, founded by their ex-drummer Eric Moore. Their third to eighth albums — Float Along, Fill Your Lungs (2013), Oddments, I'm in Your Mind Fuzz (2014), Quarters!, Paper Mâché Dream Balloon (2015) and Nonagon Infinity (2016) expanded their sound, including elements of film music, progressive rock, folk, jazz, soul and heavy metal. In 2017, the band fulfilled a promise to release five studio albums within the year: Flying Microtonal Banana, Murder of the Universe, Sketches of Brunswick East, Polygondwanaland, and Gumboot Soup.
The band has regularly produced several albums per year, including releasing five in 2022 with three of the releases in that October. Their 25th album, The Silver Cord, was released in October 2023. On The Silver Cord, the band has eschewed typical guitar-based rock for the release, instead focusing on synthesizers.
In May 2024, the band launched their own label, p(doom) Records, named after the artificial intelligence concept P(doom). In July 2024, the band announced that their 26th studio album, Flight b741, would be the first to be released on their new independent label.
In April 2025, King Gizzard announced the release of their 27th studio album, Phantom Island. Thematically, it follows up on Flight b741, but this time the band incorporated an orchestra into their sound.
