Kill the Dandies!
Kill the Dandies! is a Prague-based band, formed in 2007 by La Petie Sonja and Hank Jesus Manchini. In addition to the founding duo, the band is also made up of Vratislav Placheta and Petr Janák. Their style is based on post punk combined with garage and psychedelic rock, with significant overlaps into other genres such as soul, disco, and electronica. Over time, the band has been leaning more and more towards soul and psychedelia, as well as analogue electronics.
They are inspired by the psychedelic ballads of Lee Hazlewood, the primitivism of The Velvet Underground, and the "Spectorian" walls of sound. Their first album heavily influenced by the 60's garage lo-fi sound, entitled I Saw White Fields, was released in 2009 on their own label Drug Me Records in collaboration with Pale Music Berlin and distributed by London's Rough Trade.
