Joji
Before Japanese-Australian artist Joji was an alt R&B star, he was a YouTuber—his alter egos Filthy Frank and Pink Guy were among the defining elements of the online landscape of the 2010s, responsible for making Harlem Shake a thing and gaining a gigantic fanbase with his surreal and often shocking brand of humour. Throughout this time, Joji has kept his serious side hidden and it was only in 2017 that he decided to fully dedicate himself to a non-ironic music career. Self-described as "dark love songs", Joji's music draws on James Blake-style minimalist R&B, lo-fi hip-hop and a good dose of melancholy. He has three studio albums to his credit, the most recent of which is 2022's Smithereens.
