Jiří Hájek

Baritone Jiří Hájek studied singing at the Pardubice Conservatory. He continued at the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava, in the class of doc. P. Mikuláš, and then at the Academy of Performing Arts (AMU) in Prague, in the class of prof. R. Tuček. In 2003 he received the first price in the field of singing and the second prize in the field of opera in the Antonin Dvorak’s International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary. Since 2004, he has been a soloist of the JK Tyl Theatre in Pilsen. During his engagement, he has studied over 30 roles of the Czech and world repertoires. In 2019 he returned to the Pilsen Theater as Prince in The Cunning Peasant opera by A. Dvořák. Since 2003 he has been a regular guest of the Prague State Opera. In addition to that, he has been a soloist of the National Theatre starting from the 2010/11 season. He performs there mainly in the roles written by Mozart, such as Don Giovanni (Mozart: Don Giovanni), Papageno (Mozart: The Magic Flute), the count Almaviva (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), Guglielmo (Mozart: Cosi fan tutte) and many others. In addition to that, he gives a guest performance in the National Theatre in Brno.
