Jakub Mayer
Jakub Mayer began playing the cello at the age of five with Mirko Škampa, later continuing at the Jan Neruda Gymnasium in Prague in the joint class of Mirko and Martin Škampa. In 2004 he was accepted to the Prague Conservatory in Vladan Koci's class, from which he graduated with his first Bohuslav Martinů concert. He finished his studies at the HAMU with Jiří Hošek and Daniel Veis. He gained his first orchestral experience in the legendary Prague Student Orchestra, where he also had the opportunity to perform solo under the direction of conductors Jakub Hrůša, Marko Ivanović and Ondřej Kukal. Already during his studies he became a member of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he currently holds the position of Deputy Concertmaster and with which he is preparing for his thirteenth season. In his spare time, he works on videos and this year he has collaborated with the National Technical Library and the Supraphon record label.
