Infected Mushroom
The Israeli duo Infected Mushroom was formed in 1996 by producers Erez Eisen and Amit Duvdevani, in the middle of the country's burgeoning orientalist fascination with Goa-style psychedelic trance, which they brought to its logical extremes, becoming one of the best-selling groups in both Israeli and psytrance history. Inspired by the likes of the Prodigy and Metallica, Eisen and Dvdevani strived for crossover potential in their music, and over their career included zeitgeist-marking nods to rock, dubstep and drum'n'bass, going as far as including a psytrance Foo Fighters cover on their 2012 record Army of Mushrooms. By far the only psytrance act to enjoy this sort of mainstream appeal, they've collaborated with tellingly likeminded artists like Lady Gaga, Korn's Jonathan Davis, Paul Oakenfold and Sasha Grey. Infected Mushroom's live shows feature vocals and traditional instrumention, as well as opulent multimedia-heavy stage design.
