Galerie moderního umění v Hradci Králové

The Gallery of Modern Art in Hradec Králové was founded in 1953. In the first years of its existence it was located in the Rychnov nad Kněžnou castle, in the spring of 1963 the gallery returned to Hradec Králové and used two wings of the bishop's residence on Velké náměstí for its activities. The gallery received its permanent seat in January 1990. The collections of the gallery are mainly focused on the development of Czech modern art. Permanent exhibitions and displays trace the development of Czech modern art from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to the work of contemporary artists.
