Esme Emerson
The music project Esme Emerson was founded in 2020 in Ipswich, Suffolk, by siblings Esme Lee-Scott and Emerson Lee-Scott. They grew up in Brantham on the Suffolk–Essex border, where they were involved in music from an early age and attended rock schools in Ipswich during school holidays. Emerson later studied music at the University of Sheffield and, after completing his studies, began working with Esme on their own material.
In 2021, they released their debut single Words. A year later, their first full-length album S for Sugar, D for Dog followed. In 2024, they signed with Communion Records and released the EP Big Leap, No Faith, Small Chancer. In early 2025, they released another EP, Applesauce, accompanied by a series of singles including Yard, Together, Too Far Gone, and Stay.
Esme Emerson performed as support for artists and bands such as The Japanese House and Keane and also appeared at music festivals, including the Latitude Festival. They held their first headline show in London and, in the summer of 2025, supported Ed Sheeran at a concert in Ipswich.
The band’s work spans indie pop, indie folk, folk pop, and pop rock.
