DJ Caveman Skull
DJ Caveman Skull is the DJ moniker of Sunn O))) member Stephen O'Malley, an American musician, graphic designer and journalist.
In the 1990 he published the black metal magazine Descent together with Tyler Davis. In total, five issues of the magazine were printed, also including industrial bands and musicians. Besides, he also wrote for publications such as Slayer, Metal Maniacs, Ledo Takas and Seconds.
In 1996, O'Malley was part of the power electronics project Sarin, in 1998 he founded the label Southern Lord Records together with Greg Anderson to release the music of their bands at the time, Thorr's Hammer and Burning Witch. In 1999, he founded the experimental project Lotus Eaters together with James Plotkin and Aaron Turner. O'Malley curates the The Ajna Offensive label together with Davis releasing primary black metal but also ambient and post industrial.
O'Malley's most famous project is the drone doom band Sunn O))), in which he plays the guitar and composes music aside Greg Anderson. Furthermore, O'Malley plays bass for the trio Nazoranai with Keiji Haino and Oren Ambarchi's improvised rock.
