The eponymous debut from 2020 opened up deeply personal themes and worked mainly in the field of club rhythms and arrangements. This year's record On The Romance of Being takes a more pompous spiritual path and reflects the artist's experience with spiritual healing in epic ballads. A thirteen-piece orchestra took part in its recording, and its sound mixes elements from gospel to free jazz. Desire Marea previously worked in the South African collective FAKA, with whom he also traveled to European festivals such as Unsound or Sónar. In his solo career, he then focused on exploring his own identity or the border between the spiritual and the erotic.
