David Kalhous
Pianist David Kalhous is increasingly gaining recognition in the United States and Europe for his wide-ranging repertoire and adventurous programming spanning more than three centuries. He has appeared as a soloist with Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, Prague Philharmonia, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Moravian Philharmonic among others, performing piano concerti by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Brahms, and Cage. As a recitalist and a chamber musician, he performed recently at the Prague Spring Festival, Gilmore Keyboard Festival, Symphony Space and Bargemusic in New York City, Czech Philharmonic Chamber Music Series, and PianoForte Foundation in Chicago. David Kalhous͚ interest in new music has resulted in collaboration with many composers who have dedicated works to him. He regularly collaborates with Konvergence Ensemble in Prague and Fonema Consort in Chicago. David Kalhous began his professional studies at the Prague Conservatory as a student of Jaroslav Čermák. He has attended such institutions as Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, the Academy of Arts in Prague, the Rubin Academy of Music at Tel-Aviv University, Yale University and Northwestern University. David Kalhous is currently Assistant Professor of Piano at Florida State University College of Music.
