Candy Dulfer
Candy Dulfer is a Dutch singer and saxophonist. She was strongly influenced by her father Hans Dulfer, a well-known jazz musician, and was first introduced to the saxophone at the age of six. At the age of twelve she played in her first band with Rosa King. In 1987, she accompanied the singer Madonna on the European leg of her tour with her own band, Funky Stuff (which she had already formed at the age of 14). In 1990, she had a hit single with guitarist Dave Stewart – Lily Was Here (which was originally written by Russian rock singer-songwriter Igor Talkov). She later collaborated with Dave Gilmour and Van Morrison. She has performed alongside Prince, Pink Floyd, Maceo Parker, Aretha Franklin and Beyonce. Candy (according to her album Candy Store) is increasingly moving from jazz to pop and rock. She received a Grammy nomination for her debut album Saxuality.
