Bratislava Hot Serenaders
Founded in 1991, Bratislava Hot Serenaders is a unique orchestra that has specialised in hot jazz, or Sweet and Dance Music – music that came to Europe from America in the 1920s and 1930s. Under the artistic direction of trumpeter Juraj Bartoš, the orchestra is one of the leaders in the authentic interpretation of jazz music of this period, as evidenced by awards from European festivals and positive feedback from around the world.
The orchestra has toured many European countries and participated in many festivals, including the Milano Happy Jazz Fest, Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, Riverboat Jazz Festival Silkeborg, Prague Spring, Bohemian Ragtime & Jazz Fesztivál Hungary, La Plus Grande Cave De Jazz Du Monde, etc. The orchestra recorded thirteen CDs, four LPs and one music DVD to his credit, for which has won a Gold and Platinum Record, a Lonely Melody Radio Head Award and the 2018 Esprit People's Choice Award. The Hot Serenaders' recordings have also been featured in successful theatre performances and musicals such as Někdo to rád horké (Some Like It Hot, directed by M. Lasica), Piano Revue (directed by J. Nvôta Jr.) and Garderobier (directed by M. Polák).
The orchestra consists of fifteen musicians, the female vocal trio Serenaders Sisters and the singer ("crooner") Miloš Stančík. All musicians play authentic instruments from the 1920s and perform in tailored tuxedos and dresses from that period.
