Baiba
Baiba Skride, a violinist of Latvian origin, is a winner of the famed Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels (2001). In the course of her busy career, she has collaborated with a number of the world’s leading orchestras (Berlin Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra) and conductors (Christoph Eschenbach, Paavo and Neeme Järvi, Andris Nelsons, Yannick Nézet-Séguin etc.). Besides performing with orchestra, she also is an active performer of chamber music, often appearing in a duo with her sister Lauma. She plays a Stradivarius (1734) that was lent to her by the famed violinist Gidon Kremer.
