She was nominated in six categories and won four Junos at the Juno Awards in 2003. She was also nominated for eight Grammys.
Her second album, Under My Skin, was released in 2004 and reached the top of the album charts around the world. Lavigne also appeared on the second album of the American American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. She wrote the title song of the album Breakaway, which became a big hit in the United States.
Their third studio album The Best Damn Thing, which also includes Keep Holding On from the Eragon soundtrack, was released in early 2007. For her fourth album, Goodbye Lullaby, Avril Lavigne collaborated with her ex-husband Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 and Butch Walker, It appeared after several postponements of the release date in March 2011.
In October 2011, Lavigne confirmed her move to the label Epic Records. At the end of 2013 her fifth self-titled album was released. Her latest studio album Head Above Water was released in 2019.
