Aviana
Aviana was founded in 2016 in Gothenburg, Sweden, originally as a five-member lineup consisting of vocalist Marcus Vik, guitarists Marcus Heffler and Oscar Forsman, bassist Sebastian Colque, and drummer Niclas Bergström.
The debut album Polarize was released in January 2017.
After Marcus Vik left the band in the second half of 2017, Joel Holmqvist joined as the new vocalist, previously active in the band Walking with Strangers.
In 2019, Aviana signed a contract with the German label Arising Empire and released their second album Epicenter in August of the same year. The album included stylistic elements inspired by nu-metal and progressive metalcore.
Following the release of Epicenter in spring 2020, all guitarists, the bassist, and the drummer left the band, leaving Joel Holmqvist as the only official member. Despite this, he continued releasing music: in 2021, he released the EP Overcome and four standalone singles (Obsession, Rage, Oblivion, Retaliation), and in January 2022, he released the single Obsession along with a music video. In 2022, the single Transcendent was added to the EP, preceding the third album Corporation, released in September 2022.
Three anonymous musicians joined the band, identified as Death (guitar), Fear (bass), and Dark (drums), who performed wearing masks.
In 2023, Aviana released the single As Above, So Below. In April 2024, the single Delirium followed, accompanied by a guitar playthrough video, released ahead of the European Black Tour as support for Imminence and Allt. In November 2024, the single Father was released, followed in January 2025 by Storm Ablaze, accompanied by a music video. From February to March 2025, the band performed as the main support act for Make Them Suffer’s first North American tour.
The band’s style combines elements of metalcore, djent, and nu-metal, featuring prominent breakdowns, melodic parts, and clean vocals.
