Acres
Acres is a British rock band from Portsmouth that formed in 2011. From the start, they have been active on the alternative scene, and over the course of their career, they have evolved both in terms of lineup and musical style. Their early work was associated with genres such as screamo and post-metal, but on later recordings, the band gradually shifted toward post-hardcore, melodic hardcore, and alternative metal.
The band’s first releases were the EPs Acres (2012) and Solace (2014), followed by the EP In Sickness and Health and Smoke and Decay, released in 2017. The band underwent a major change in 2015 following the departure of the original singer and the arrival of Ben Lumber, which influenced the direction of their music.
Their debut studio album Lonely World was released in 2019 and marks the band’s first full-length project. This was followed by their second album Burning Throne (2023), after which the band continued touring and further developing their sound.
The band’s current work includes the EP What It’s Like to Feel Worthless (2024) and their third studio album The Host (2025), which builds on their previous stylistic direction and further develops elements of alternative metal and post-hardcore.
