Zubin Mehta
Zubin Mehta is an Indian conductor. He grew up in a family of musicians, his father Mehli Mehta was a prominent concert violinist, violin teacher and conductor, who founded the Bombay Symphony Orchestra and a string quartet. Already at the age of 16, Zubin Mehta conducted the Bombay Symphony Orchestra for the first time.
From 1978 to 1991, Zubin Mehta was chief conductor of the New York Philharmonic, from 1998 to 2006 he was the general music director of the Bavarian State Opera and from 1977 to 2019 he was the music director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mehta has already conducted the New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic five times, for the first time in 1990 and then in 1995, 1998, 2007 and 2015.
