The Happy Disharmonists are a mixed pop choir from Berlin. It was founded in 1985 by Carsten Gerlitz. The vocal ensemble consists of about 20 singers.
The Happy Disharmonist’s repertoire includes more than 200 arrangements and reaches from own a capella versions and cover versions of classics of pop music, partly combined with beat boxing, to jazz and folk or choir comedy with a stage arrangement. Furthermore, the choir also performs classical pieces such as the Christmas Oratorium or Mozart’s Requiem.
The Happy Disharmonists have performed on many stages in Berlin (Kammermusiksaal der Berliner Philharmonie, Meistersaal, Konzertsaal der Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, Theater des Westens, Tempodrom, Bar jeder Vernunft, Tipi, Radialsystem and more) and have given concerts traveling in Vienna, Namibia, Dresden, Mallorca and Prague among others.
Carsten Gerlitz, the founder and director of the choir, is a musician, composer and arranger.
