The Day
The Day are Laura Loeters from Utrecht / Netherlands and Gregor Sonnenberg from Hamburg. Both meet at the Conservatory in Arnhem, exchange musical approaches and views and bring distances, differences and ever new perspectives in their band under a common denominator. Dreamy-sounding dream-pop meets a DIY ethic learned and lived by hardcore. Barren, springy and enthralling dynamics alternate with a wildly dreamy harmony, rock and synths create exciting contrasts with reduced Postpunk references. This is followed by topics that combine and contrast private and political as often as possible. The Day have recorded two very nice EPs on their own, have been on the road, opened for Kate Tempest and have been on tour with Turnover. And incidentally, the two continue to work on the formulation of their own version of withdrawn, melancholy pop music. The pieces of The Day are intimate without imposing and tell with coming from within peace. The long-playing debut album "Midnight Parade" was released in 2018.
