Tadeusz Karolak

He studied conducting at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music and musicology at the University of Warsaw. In 1982-83 he was assistant to Bohdan Wodiczko and conductor of the academic symphony orchestra. In 1981 he founded and conducted the orchestra of the Warsaw Music Society. Since 1983 Tadeusz Karolak has been the conductor at the Warsaw Chamber Opera. His repertoire covers music from various periods: from Baroque, through Italian opera buffa, works by Mozart (The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, The Abduction from the Seraglio), to Polish music of the 19th (Moniuszko's Halka) and 20th centuries (the world premiere of Zbigniew Rudziński's opera Antigone). In 1999 he conducted the Polish premiere of Jacopo Peri's opera Euridice. He has conducted in many philharmonics, as well as at many festivals, both of early and contemporary music.
