Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble

In 2014, a group of Krakow musicians, appearing together in the European Workshop for Contemporary Music project, took part in the Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt, in a program for young ensembles. At that time the thought was born to continue fruitful cooperation in the form of a permanent team. The common ground was the desire to explore contemporary music in all genre manifestations, from different periods and from different musical cultures. In addition, the goal was to perform such music in a form that would allow both performers and listeners to develop.

The cooperative is a collection of artistic individualities. Each member also conducts its own artistic activity and can boast of significant achievements in the field of musical art. As part of individual activities, they give concerts as soloists, form chamber ensembles, perform in symphony orchestras. However, this activity does not end with performance, some of the members conduct scientific activities, deal with composition, music production and organization of artistic events. Each member of the band gathers invaluable individual experience related to various branches of contemporary, classical, early, entertainment and ethnic music. This versatility of musicians results in openness to innovative ideas and artistic solutions. Individuality, diversity and freshness are of paramount importance in the selection of the repertoire, and in the performance of musical and aesthetic ideas as well as openness and musicality supported by technical skills.
