Sampurna

Sampurna is the duo of Waldemar Rychły (guitar, sarod and ghungroo) and Mandar Purandare (harmonium, clarinet, darbuka, tabla and singing), in which they play a wide range of Indian music. Purandare has been known since the 1980s as a member of the pioneering Polish folk group Kwartet Jorgi; his compositions draw on the rich musical traditions of many nations, which he combines with classical music, rock expression and jazz improvisation. Purandare was born in Puna, India; he has been in touch with stage and acting since childhood, has performed in Marathi, Hindi and also German, and is a lecturer in Hindi at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.
