Romana Schmalisch, Robert Schlicht: Humanity at Work

How do you learn to work? What skills can be acquired to meet the demands of the labor market? In other words, how does human capital come about? With their solo exhibition Humanity at Work, Romana Schmalisch and Robert Schlicht take up questions of the current working world.

In the exhibition, Schmalisch and Schlicht construct the model of a "workpower plant" in which people are strategically shaped, guided and transformed into potential workers. The focus is on the short film Top/Down, which stages a role play between three managers of this fictional human capital production facility. The exhibition is preceded by research in vocational training centers, preparatory courses and other institutions that impart the soft skills that are indispensable in today's labor market: personality development, creativity strategies, self-presentation, self-management.

The exhibition is in German and English, the footage in French with English subtitles.
