Public Enemy
Public Enemy is a hip-hop formation that was one of the most influential bands in the US rape scene in the late 1980s. The texts of the formation are very socially critical content and their performances with bodyguards, the S1W's (Security of the First World) in mercenary look, in the style of public protest events often triggered a strong echo in the media. They released their first album Yo! Bum Rush the Show in 1987. In 1988 they released It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back, which even reached platinum status. Also the successor Fear of a Black Planet got platin. The band did not only focus on the hip hop genre, but also played the track Bring the Noise, one of the first crossover tracks, together with Thrash Band Anthrax. Besides of that they recorded a song called Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos with Rage Against the Machine.The group has always been artistically praised by critics and is considered as one of the most influential hip-hop formations.
