Piano Day, the celebration of piano music, was initiated in 2015 by the composer and pianist Nils Frahm. He suggested that the 88th day of the year (symbolizing 88 piano keys) would abound in concerts and other events drawing attention to the beauty of music. Last year, Piano Day was also celebrated in Poland for the first time. On the initiative of Michał Kmieciak, a Poznań composer and pianist of the contemporary classical trend and with the organizational support of Estrada Poznańska, a live concert was held at Scena na Piętrze. The artist played without the band usually accompanying him. This year, the Poznań edition of Piano Day will not be limited to the final concert, to which the stars were invited. There will also be discussions and events for children – everything with the piano as the centre of focus!
