Opatan

Opatan Band was founded by Hossein Deriszadeh and plays Bandari, a traditional music from the south of Iran with ethno- and afro-oriental influences. Opatan is the old name for a city in Southwest Iran, that is called Abadan these days.

The rythmic dance music is played in slow or fast paces. It includes singing and many different instruments like ney anban, oud, flute, talking drum, djembe und quinto, kunga, damam, domdom, tamburin and shaker. The Musik from the south of Iran is strongly influenced by the migration of people from India and African and Arabic countries in the region.
