Odette

Odette was born in England and grew up in a suburb of Sydney with countless musical influences. Her South African mother brought her African rhythm, soul and funk. Her father and grandfather are jazz pianists, from whom she has inherited her talent on the piano and her penchant for new wave and jazz. To this day, her emotional technique on the grand piano is the central moment of her performances and the constituent element of her songs. Just take their first song, the debut single Watch Me Read You: How to slowly develop a broken chord and spoken word performance into a R'n'B ballad with this light beat is great. Her rap-flow is up to date and the great soul vocals live less on the large vocal range but more on the fine technical expressiveness in connection with the music. The result is a small chamber music drama by a great narrator, influenced by artists like Joanna Newsom and Laura Mvula and poets like John Keats and Walt Whitman.
