Obscura (Latin: dark) is a German technical death metal band founded in 2002 in Landshut. The band name refers to the Gorguts album of the same name, which was only very cautiously reviewed at the time because of the many stylistic influences within the scene. This approach to combining different styles is what characterizes Obscura today.
