Nachodne

The Nachodne Singing Group is a group singing traditional songs using the white voice technique while preserving the melody and dialect. It consists of singing enthusiasts of various ages, from children to adults, inhabitants of Sejny and the neighbouring villages of the Sejny commune. The repertoire is Suwałki/Sejny songs and songs of national minorities living in the north-eastern Poland. The ensemble started its activity in April 2018 at the Cultural Centre in Sejny. By singing the oldest songs, the ensemble wants to save the regional musical tradition and rituals from oblivion, spreading the heritage of generations, diversity and cultural wealth of the Sejny region. The costumes in which the ensemble performs have been reconstructed on the basis of ethnographic research of the Sejny region by ethno costume designer Jadwiga Koszudzka, PhD, and purchased as part of the Sejny na ludowo project co-financed by the National Centre for Culture as part of the EtnoPolska 2019 programme. The Nachodne ensemble took second place in the Folk Band category at the 55th All-Polish Festival of Folk Bands and Singers.
