Mustapha El Boudani

Born into a traditional Nomad family, Mustapha El Boudani comes from the southern part of Morocco, from a village at the gateway to the sands of the Sahara. However, for more than a dozen years he has been connected to Poland, and in particular to the Polish Carpathian Mountains: since 2015 he has been implementing the project 'Highlanders in the Sahara – Nomads in the Beskids', he has been working with the Golec Brothers Foundation, and his album Nomad (2018) features Poland's Żywiec Highlanders. El Boudani is a vocalist, guitarist and drummer; he also plays the qraqeb castanets and dances. His creative work revolves around traditional and contemporary Saharan music; he also collaborates with the Polish world music ensemble Dikanda.
