Experimental, Jazz | Spiritual jazz is a style characterized by its own traditions and stories. Maisha pick up on that style it lead them into new directions, from jazz to afrobeat, on every aspect of their musical creation. The six-member group, led by bandleader, drummer and songwriter Jake Long, brings new accents to the weighty tradition of spiritual jazz. Their debut EP Welcome to a New Welcome from 2016 was published by Jazz Re: freshed. In 2018, they were part of We Out Here, a compilation by Brownswood Recordings that celebrated the young and up-and-coming London jazz scene, and featured artists such as Moses Boyd and Nubya Garcia. They already performed in the Boiler Room and also supported the Sun Ra Arkestra.
