Róisín Murphy

Róisín Marie Murphy, born in 1973 in Arklow, County Wicklow, is an Irish musician and music producer who became known as the singer of the British-Irish duo Moloko. Róisín Murphy had no professional singing experience when she met British producer Mark Brydon at a party, with whom she then formed the band Moloko. During their first conversation, the phrase "Do you like my tight sweater?" is said to have been uttered, which then became the title of her debut album, released in 1995.

After four studio albums with Moloko, Murphy recorded her first solo material in 2004. Her debut album Ruby Blue was released in 2005, with If We're in Love and Sow into You as singles.Murphy switched from her old record label Echo to EMI in 2006; her second solo album Overpowered was released under this label in 2007. In late 2009, Murphy released the single Orally Fixated, which only made it into the UK indie charts. Together with Marius de Vries, she produced the song Yellow Moon and collaborated with the Crookers, which resulted in two songs: Royal T and Hold Up Your Hands. In early 2010, Murphy released the single, Momma's Place, which was available online a month before its release date. In the fall of 2012, she again released a single titled Simulation. In 2015 she presented her third solo album, Hairless Toys, and in 2020 she released Róisín Machine.
